2021. A brand new year. A blank slate. Today can set the course for 364 days to come.
For the last few years, God has repeatedly told me that I am in a season of preparation. I have asked Him (more like begged Him) numerous times to reveal to me just what it is He has in store for me… but He wouldn’t. He hasn’t.
His declining an answer to my question is not like radio silence. Instead, it is a loud and clear “Trust me and I will let you know when it’s time” (and maybe a little ‘please stop begging me; I am not budging’). He just wants me to be willing and stay the course and keep my eyes on Him.
So here I am… entering in a new year… still in this stage of “preparing” for, literally, only God knows what. Even though I don’t have the full picture, I see little puzzle pieces along the way that fills me with excited expectation! I see glimpses through divine appointments; trials great and small that reveal His glory and faithfulness in new ways. I see things lining up in a way that only HE can line them up. Through this, He continues to say “You don’t need to know. Just go”.
I don’t need to know because HE knows. And I trust Him.
So I have come to realize, it’s not where we are going; it is HOW we are going.
Heart, attitude, relationships, patience, trust, faith… These are things that He is interested in. These are the things that determine if we are staying on course.
Paul said to the church of Corinth, “Remember to stay alert and hold firmly to all that you believe. Be mighty and full of courage. Let love and kindness be the motivation behind all that you do” (1 Corinthians 16:13-14).
So you see friends, as we go into 2021, our focus should not be on what could go on this year as much as how we go into this year. Are you going in full of courage? Are you holding firm to your beliefs? Are you letting love and kindness motivate you? Are you moving forward in faith? Are you trusting Him blindly? Are you showing others the same grace that we receive?
We don’t know what 2021 holds, but we know who holds 2021. And as long as your course is set on Him, you don’t need to know… just go!
